About us

cropped-cropped-cropped-uswithcoco3.jpgAndy and Stacey are a happily married, 50-something, newly retired couple that has decided to move to Mexico and enjoy living life. We quit the 9-to-5 rat race after one of us (Stacey) was diagnosed with advanced-stage ovarian cancer, now in remission.

We’re sharing our day-to-day adventures with family and friends, hoping to encourage more people to follow their hearts and dreams. We welcome words of encouragement and questions of all kinds.

Happy trails to us … and to you.

  1. Dear Immigrants: It is with joy to know that you are enjoying life in Mexico. I am a Mexican that is retired and I would be happy to help you in regards to any question about the Mexican way or life or customs. Presently I recide in te metropolitan Mexico City area , but please feeel free to contact me if you need info. .
My brother and sister in law will be traveling to Ixtapa by the end of the month. Maybe they could meet you. My recomendation is that you should have Mexican friends, and do not restrict your circle of friends to only USA people, as many USA people do.

  2. I am enjoying your blog. I recently turned fifty and retired to Mexico two months ago. I currently live in Guanajuato. I intend to travel throughout Mexico, Central and South America.

I will be visiting your area at some point in the near future. Perhaps we could meet for a drink. If you are at all interested in meeting please contact me.

    Thank you,

    • Thanks for your comment, John. Congrats on your decision to move. We’re always interested in meeting people. If you are in Zihuataenjo, please send me a message and we will see if we can meet up and share stories. Thanks for your kind note.

    • I’m not sure how to send a response to this. Even though I’ve only been retired a few months, I’m feeling a bit daft already. And I’m OK with that. 🙂

  3. I received my 2nd cancer diagnosis (Stage 4 NSCLC, adenocarcinoma; 1st cancer was ovarian in 1997) the day before we were to fly to Mexico to buy our retirement home in the Lake Chapala area. We´re scheduled to close on the house in mid-June and will be moving as soon as I complete my first-line treatment. I’m searching for any and all advice, tips, referrals, etc. related to oncologists/cancer treatment available in Mexico, preferably in Guadalajara, PV, and/or other locations that would hopefully be within a workable distance of Lakeside.
